How about this? Scrap the stem idea since a common crit is that it looks awkward and exchange it with a smattering of falling maple-type-leaves? And if you think my placement of the leaves is random, it's not, I spent a while playing around with the amount, rotation, size and placement of these leaves.

Took out the J that connected the leaves to "Oxford." What do you think? Is it an improvement?

Personal Project. Trying to improve my portfolio, so I'm designing book covers, posters, logos, packaging, etc. on my own time.
Concept for a new cover for the Oxford Canadian Dictionary. I wasn't hired to do this, I'm doing it for the sake of practice. I have a few ideas about how to tweak it further, but in the meantime, give me your critique! I'm doing this to improve after all
Also, I don't currently have a CA Oxford Dictionary on hand so I don't have the copy to do the back cover and spine design properly. If I do get my hands on one, I'll definitely do those as well.
